Lee was born and raised in the Monticello community. After graduating from Monticello high school in 1978, he attended Iowa State University for two years. He then returned home and joined his father in operating their family farm. At age 25 he assumed the responsibility of manager. Under his efficient leadership and sensible management practices, the enterprise has not only expanded but has achieved a level of fiscal security that will ensure its future.
As a member and president of the Monticello School Board, Lee further demonstrated a level of fiscal responsibility that produced excellent results as the district now enjoys a financial posture envied by many districts.
In 1983 he and Jacky were married. They have two children. Amy graduated from Iowa State University and is enrolled in law school at the University of Iowa. Ben is a senior at Iowa State. In addition to being a farm wife, Jacky is a successful businesswoman. She owns and operates “About Face” in Monticello.
Lee is a member of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, the Iowa Farm Bureau, Cedar Valley and Iowa Farm Business Associations, the Jones County in Iowa Pork Producers, and the Jones County and Iowa Cattlemen’s Association. In addition to his membership, Lee has also donated his time and leadership skills to these organizations.
